The Nerf Longstrike CS6, part of the N-Strike line and is marketed as "The longest Nerf blaster!"
Don't let the barrel length fool you though. The box claims it can fire up to 35 feet.. which is true; if you're 5'9" tall, shoulder-fire while standing, point the barrel between 15-25 degrees upward, and wait til the bullet bounces forward after hitting the ground before you measure from firing point to bullet landing. Hey, they didn't say "35 feet precisely".
If anything, I've only gotten it to fire about 10ft before the dart stopped trying to keep any semblance of accuracy. And that's after I had my brother modify it to remove the limiter and stretch the spring.
The Longstrike comes with a gimmick flip-up front sight on top of the last section of barrel. It's useless. It also comes with an attachment that gives you sight options from an iron sight-like range finder, to a small aperture sight. The latter actually helps.
Hear me out.
You attach the sight and set it up just like in the box image with one slight change: flip the iron sight range-finder down. This gives you the forward aperture sight which is supposed to be paired with the blades you get when you flip down the rear aperture sight. Now, look through the rear aperture sight and through the forward aperture sight. This should give you a perfect view of tip of the barrel and the gimmick front sight which, if you still haven't caught on, should be flipped down. This leaves you a good half-circle of aim. Anything in that half-circle, and within 10 feet CAN get hit.
That's how accurate the Longstrike is, as in not-very.
So why did I get one, you ask? Because it was on sale. Seriously.
For a good 6 months, I'd been eying the Longstrike and reading reviews on it. Clearly my Marui could out-shoot this piece of plastic 4-6 times the M9's length. But then I couldn't use a Gas Blow-back on our pet cat, so like a Sniper I stalked the Longstrike until the perfect moment arrived: a 10% Discount on Nerf items!
Just like that, I took home a Longstrike and pack of 16 Clip-Darts for a total cost that was cheaper than the Longstrike's original price alone.
Now it's my Domestic Animal Translator. It delivers the message 'Get Lost' to our cat flawlessly.
My only other gripe besides the horrendous accuracy is the non-ergonomic, though tolerable hold. If you've ever held a rifle you'll immediately note how odd the grip feels. The forward hand support feels fine, but given the Longstrike's not-so-long-strikes I tend to rest my hand on the space between the trigger and the clip, making my elbow a make-shift monopod while keeping the Longstrike level.
Do I recommend buying it? Meh. I got it because it was fun and it lets me go Sniper Ape-$#!T without having to use a BB gun. And also because it went on sale.
If you're a rifle-fanatic with obsessive compulsiveness towards range and accuracy, GET THIS GUN, OMG! I want to see you seizure!
If you're looking for a safe way to shoot at things that you could walk towards and just flick a booger at, GET THIS GUN, OMG! Screw the exercise!
If you're a little kid who saw the nice blue and orange colors and your daddy promised you a toy today, DO NOT GET THIS GUN. It's reserved for the two previous categories of people I recommended should get the gun.
The Nerf Longstrike: I got mine cheap and I'm happy.
